Julie Burns, Principal Analyst

Julie Burns by the Omo River in southern Ethiopia near Lake Turkana Julie has worked for over twenty years in market research, networking and communications, Internet and software development, and new product development. Before founding Seal Rock Research, Julie was Vice President of Marketing for PeerLogic, Inc., a communications middleware vendor.

From 1986 to 1991, Julie held a wide range of positions in product, developer, strategic, and channel marketing at Lotus Development Corporation. At Lotus she was instrumental in launching such breakthrough products as Lotus Agenda, the first PIM, and Lotus Express, the first PC-based wide-area consumer e-mail product. She also spearheaded development of a VAR and systems integrator program for Lotus Notes and other networked products.

Julie began her career as a user interface designer at Data General, where she helped design the UI and on-line help system for CEO (Comprehensive Electronic Office), one of the first integrated office automation suites.

She holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MA and Ph.D. from SUNY at Buffalo.

David Burns, Principal Technical Analyst

David has over seventeen years' experience as a software developer, architect, and development manager at companies including Phoenix Technologies, Lotus Development Corporation, and Solution Systems. As a consultant, he has completed projects for Apple Computer, Aspect Telecommunications and a number of other multimedia and software development companies.

Before joining Seal Rock Research in 2001, he was Director of Engineering at Visualize Video.
